CHINA CROSS CULTURAL EXCHANGE, 2019 - 2022

On April 5, 2019, PNSNE members Margot Rocklen, Mary Teichman, Carmela Venti, Jo Yarrington, and Yuemei Zhang traveled to Guangzhou, China to exhibit their work along with  prints in several PNSNE portfolios at the University City Art Museum of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts.  The exhibit, Crossings and Transpositions, Part I was followed by an exchange exhibit in 2022 at Fairfield University, CT where five artists from China exhibited in Seeing is Believing: Crossings and Transpositions, Part ll.

While in China, the American artists conducted lectures, demonstrations and a printmaking workshop at the Academy of Fine Arts.  Yuemei Zhang, together with her teaching colleagues at Guangzhou Academy and other arts institutions in the area, arranged the exhibit and educational programing.

The five Chinese artists, Luo Biwu, Xiao Yao, Zhang Zhengmin, Zuo Zhengyao, and He Jiancheng, were not able to travel to the United States for the exchange exhibit in 2022 due to Covid restrictions, but were able to ship their artwork.  Jo Yarrington, Professor of Art at Fairfield University, together with university administrators, arranged the exhibition.

At the same time, the PNSNE artists who had traveled to China exhibited some of the work they had shown in Guangzhou in the Lukacs Gallery on Fairfield University campus.  That exhibit was followed by another exhibit of their prints at Crown Gallery, Metro Art Studios in Bridgeport, CT.
