Visions/Revisions, 25th Anniversary Exhibition

Center for Contemporary Prints
Norwich, CT
April 8 – May 19, 2017

A creative vision is born in the imagination; a mental image of something that is not yet fully realized. So begins the artist’s journey to bring form to an idea.

The Visions/Revisions Exhibit, marked the 25th anniversary of the Printmakers’ Network of Southern New England and highlighted this creative journey. Each artist presented an original work and a subsequent piece based on the first, thus allowing us to view the transformation that occurs in a second work of art through the use of materials, technique or style.

Proof Positive

Slater Memorial Museum
Norwich, CT
November 23, 2014 – January 18, 2015.

“Proof,” in the world of printmaking, is a trial print that is created to test the progress of an image.

Proof Positive chronicled over two decades of work by members of PNSNE and included a wide range of techniques and diverse subject matter associated with contemporary printmaking; processes that revisit traditional techniques as well as new 21st century processes.

Included in the exhibit was the group’s latest portfolio, Print Cubed. PNSNE members were challenged to work within a six by eighteen inch format that would be folded and housed in a six by six by six inch cube box. The varied responses to this limited format are proof that each image was as distinct and individual as the artist.

INKINGS

An Ongoing Program of Interactive Printmaking Activities

Members conceived INKLING in 2009 as an educational outreach program designed to benefit hospitalized children and provide a valuable outlet for creative expression. The inaugural program took place in 2011 at the Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

Hands-on workshops in various printmaking techniques were presented and followed up with an exhibition of the artwork. Since 2011 PNSNE has brought the INKLING programs not only to children’s hospitals, but also to adults in outpatient clinics and art therapy majors at Connecticut College.

The INKLING workshop and exhibits foster interaction between participants of all ages and the PNSNE artists as they share dialogue about the meaning and inspiration behind their images.
