Printmakers Network of Southern New
England
Poetry/Printmaking Collaboration Original Book Project

Begun in 2006, 15 members of the Printmakers
Network of Southern New England and 3 Connecticut poets
joined together to create “Travel,” a 3-book
collection of original prints and poems hand-bound by Sarah
Creighton. The concept was for artists and poets to work
in conjunction on a chosen subject over a given period of
time; the creative results would be fused together into
a 3-book collection.
Twelve words dealing with travel –
four from each poet became the inspiration for the images
and poems. Three word groups were formed – each printmaker
then selected the four words of most interest to him or
her as inspiration. In October 2008 the project members
met to see the results of each members’ efforts. At
this meeting the poets and artists correlated the poems
with the artwork into three accordion format books.
Thirty copies of the 3-book collection were
created with only five sets remaining for sale - price:
$3000. Fairfield University, CT, Dodd Center Special Collections
- University of Connecticut, and Wheaton College, MA, have
acquired Travel for their permanent collections.
